No Financial Irregularity, Only Procedural Lapse: APSSS Sets Record Straight
Aligarh | 4, April 2026 : Aligarh Public School Shiksha Samiti (APSSS) has responded to recent Media reports about a ₹4.8 crore transaction by issuing a clarifying statement, which also fully supports the incredible contributions made by veteran educator, Professor Zakia Athar Siddiqi.
The APSSS stated that the amount in question was simply one of many routine, internal transfers made between two bank accounts of the same institution, and that there has been no loss of funds, no transfers to any outside entity, and no fraudulent activity involved in the transaction.
The APSSS also stated that an inquiry committee was set up and conducted an investigation into the matter in 2025, which found that there was a procedural irregularity involved in this matter due to a lack of properly documented procedures, and therefore administrative action was taken.

In light of the clarification provided by the APSSS, attention is once again drawn to Professor Zakia Siddiqi. Professor Siddiqi has been associated with Aligarh Public School for nearly 20 years and, since 2006, has been serving there on an honorary basis. She has also served as the former Principal of Women’s College at Aligarh Muslim University.
The academic performance of the school was average when she took over. There were between 40-50% passing rates for the students. Since then, this has changed a great deal to be around 90–95% passing rates each year, with many years producing 100% of the students passing all their classes, as well as many distinctions in every subject achieved by the students. She also offered more academic opportunities to the students by introducing the Commerce stream in 2007, and she worked with the school leadership to offer a Humanities stream for the upcoming academic year.
The school has kept its fee structure very low for families living in and around Aligarh, so that as many students as possible could go to school. The school’s corpus has grown from ₹1 crore in 2006 to over ₹10 crore in 2025.
In response to the questions raised about the formation of the Samiti (i.e., APSSS), the Samiti has clarified that APSSS was formed in 2017 with the full knowledge and involvement of the then Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, who was the first President of the Aligarh Public School Shiksha Samiti (APSSS). Additionally, the school is located on Waqf Land. AMU acts as the caretaker and collects the rent from the Aligarh Public School Shiksha Samiti (APSSS), and the APSSS has paid the rent on time for the duration of its existence.
