Three-Day Literary and Cultural Festival “Riwayat” Inaugurated at AMU’s Sir Syed Hall South

Nai Dilli : A three-day literary and cultural festival, titled “Riwayat,” was inaugurated today at the Common Room of Sir Syed Hall South, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Scheduled to run until April 30, the festival aims to promote academic awakening, research interest, and the true spirit of residential life in students.
Inaugurating the event, Dr. Abdul Rauf, Provost of Sir Syed Hall South, highlighted the importance of literary and cultural programs in fostering intellectual growth and nurturing creative talents among students. He encouraged new students to set clear academic goals and assured them of the Hall administration’s full support in ensuring progress and transparency.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, as the Chief Guest, and Prof. Anwar Shehzad, MIC Land and Garden from the Department of Botany, as the Guest of Honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest, Prof. Badrudduja Khan, Principal of Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, emphasized the significance of maintaining discipline and upholding the traditions and dignity of Sir Syed Hall while pursuing academic excellence.
The guest of honour, Prof. Anwar Shehzad, Member Incharge, Land and Garden, recalling his time at the Hall, praised its lush lawns and urged students to contribute to preserving its beauty. He also underlined the vital role literary and cultural activities play alongside formal education, noting that AMU provides a unique platform for students to showcase their talents through such initiatives.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students of Sir Syed Hall and other residential halls, along with the presence of several wardens. Mr. Samiullah, a student of the Hall, conducted the program, while the welcome address was delivered by Wasif Raza, the Hall’s Literary and Cultural Secretary. Dr. Muhammad Kaif Farshori, Warden In-Charge of the Literary and Cultural Society, presented the vote of thanks.
Over the course of three days, the “Riwayat” festival will feature 16 diverse activities, including Qirat and Tajweed competitions, speech contests, essay writing, debates, and poetry recitations, providing students with a vibrant platform to exhibit their talents.
