STS School Commemorates Dr. B. R. Ambedkar’s Birth Anniversary with a Series of Engaging and Thought-Provoking Events

Nai Dilli : Syedna Tahir Saifuddin (STS) School organized a series of programs to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar — the principal architect of the Indian Constitution and a visionary social reformer. The events were designed to honor his legacy and instill in students the values of equality, justice, and constitutional morality that Dr. Ambedkar championed throughout his life.
The celebrations commenced on April 24, with a Prayer Ceremony and Morning Assembly. Juver Khan delivered an address on Dr. Ambedkar’s life, highlighting his struggle against caste discrimination and his monumental contributions to India’s democratic framework.
A special segment was devoted to the role of women in the Constituent Assembly, where Abul Hasan shed light on the contributions of Hansa Mehta, Rajkumari Amrit Kaur, Durgabai Deshmukh, and Renuka Ray. A moving tribute to India’s freedom fighters followed, with Shuja Abbas narrating tales of sacrifice and patriotism. Mohd Jaseem recited a poem, “The Soul of India”, encapsulating the dreams of a free and fair nation. The entire assembly proceedings were conducted by Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir.
On April 25, a Quiz Competition tested the knowledge of over 50 students on the life and legacy of Dr. Ambedkar. Master Abdul Wahid (IX A3) secured first place, while Mohd Uzaif Ghazi and Anas Ahmed Tanveer (IX A1), along with Tejas Tiwari (X A2), shared second place. The event was organized under the supervision of Mr. Nooruzzama Arshad, with support from Mr. Mohd Mansoor Khan.
The commemorative Seminar held on April 26 in the AV Lab served as the intellectual heart of the celebrations.Teacher-in-Charge Mr. Mohd Allam introduced the seminar theme, emphasizing the enduring relevance of Dr. Ambedkar’s philosophy in shaping a just and equitable society.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Syed Jamal, who spoke on “Empowerment of Women” and the progressive vision of Dr. Ambedkar; Mr. Parvez Alam, who elaborated on “Ambedkar’s Ideas of Rights and Duties”, stressing constitutional morality; and Dr. Shahab Shabbir, who addressed “Ambedkar’s Views on Social Empowerment”, underlining his lifelong crusade against caste discrimination.
Principal Mr. Faisal Nafis in his address, urged the students to embody the ideals of Dr. Ambedkar—education, compassion, and social justice. The seminar concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Vice Principal Dr. Tanweer Husain Khan, followed by a collective pledge to uphold the values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
The commemorations culminated on April 28 with Sports Activities .The highlight was a spirited Tug of War competition between Red House and Green House, with the latter emerging victorious. The event was coordinated by Mr. Mohd Adnan Khan and Mr. Mohammad Asim, with the presence of faculty members including Dr. Tanweer Husain Khan, Mr. Mohd Furqan, Mr. Muddasir Ali Rizvi, Ms. Nasreen Fatima, and Mrs. Ghazala Tanvir.
Throughout the week, each event reflected the institution’s commitment to celebrating Dr. Ambedkar not just in word, but in spirit. Principal Mr. Nafis concluded the series by reminding students that the most fitting tribute to Baba Saheb is to live by the ideals he held dear—knowledge, integrity, and equality for all.
