Prof. Fatima Khan Underscores Importance of Diagnostics in Tackling Antimicrobial Resistance

Nai Dilli : Prof. Fatima Khan of the Department of Microbiology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), participated as the Chief Guest and delivered the Keynote Address at a regional workshop organized by the Iqraa Institute, Calicut. The workshop was attended by healthcare professionals, laboratory scientists, and key stakeholders to discuss the evolving role of diagnostics in modern medical practice.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Khan highlighted the critical contribution of laboratory professionals to Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS), emphasizing that timely and precise diagnostics are fundamental to evidence-based treatment. She noted that laboratory personnel, by identifying pathogens and performing susceptibility testing, play a pivotal role in guiding clinicians towards judicious antibiotic use—a key strategy in combating the global threat of antimicrobial resistance.
The workshop served as a significant forum for knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary collaboration, reinforcing the importance of diagnostics in public health and antimicrobial resistance mitigation efforts, added Prof. Khan.
