Global Hand Hygiene Day Observed with Inter-school Quiz at AMU

Nai Dilli : The Hospital Infection Society India, Aligarh Chapter, under the aegis of the American Society for Microbiology and in collaboration with the AMU Women’s Club, organized an inter-school quiz and awareness programme to mark Global Hand Hygiene Day at the JN Medical College Auditorium, Aligarh Muslim University.
The programme aimed to promote awareness about the importance of hand hygiene in infection prevention and to engage students in relevant health education. Chief Guest Dr. Anju Gupta, Gynecologist and Founding President of the Aligarh Menopause Society, addressed the gathering along with Guests of Honour Dr. Hameeda Tariq, Paediatrician and Founding Patron of the AMU Women’s Club, and Prof. Mohd Naved Khan, Coordinator, Cultural Education Centre, AMU. Also present were Prof. Mohd Habib Raza, Dean, Faculty of Medicine and Principal and CMS, JNMC; Prof. Subuhi Khan, Secretary, AMU Women’s Club; and faculty members from various departments.

The programme featured a welcome address and a thematic introduction, followed by several interactive segments. A key event was the interschool quiz conducted by Prof. Fatima Khan, Founder Secretary of the Hospital Infection Society India, Aligarh Chapter, and ASM Ambassador to India (2024–26), who also thanked all participants and supporting members for their contributions.
Students of the 23rd MBBS batch also presented a skit on the relevance of hand hygiene in daily life.
More than 100 student teams from schools across Aligarh participated in the competition. The event concluded with the prize distribution for winners of various competitions. Zaima and Madiha from Our Lady of Fatima School won first prize, followed by Sudaim and Zaid from The Blossoms School, and Anabia and Tehreem from Al-Barkaat School.
