Department of TT & NFE (IASE), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia organizes online FDP on “Empowering Educators with AI in Teaching and Research”

Nai Dilli : Department of Teacher Training & Non-Forma Education (TT&NFE), Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), Faculty of Education, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organized a 40 hours, 10-day long, online Faculty Development Program (FDP) titled, “Empowering Educators with AI in Teaching and Research” from 6th to 16th May-2025 in association with the Electronics & ICT Academy (Hub) NIT Warangal and E & ICT Academy (Spoke) Indian Institute of Information Technology Design and Manufacturing (IIITDM), Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh. The FDP was sponsored by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India.
The inaugural session of the FDP commenced on 6th May 2025, marking the beginning of a comprehensive 10-day online training on integrating Artificial Intelligence in teaching and research. The Chief Guest of the inaugural session was Prof Mahtab Alam Rizvi, Registrar of Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI). The session was attended by eminent dignitaries from partnering institutions like Prof. Jessy Abraham, Head, Dept of TT and NFE, JMI, Prof. P. Sreehari Rao, Chief Investigator, E&ICT Academy, NIT Warangal, Dr. K. Krishna Naik, Associate Professor– ECE, IIITDM Kurnool, Dr. M. Naresh Babu, Associate Professor – CSE, IIITDM Kurnool, Prof. Sara Begum, Dean, Faculty of Education, JMI and the participating faculty. This program was jointly coordinated by Dr Noel Nittala Anurag Prashanth, Assistant Professor at IIITDM Kurnool and Dr Aerum Khan, Associate Professor, Department of TT & NFE (IASE), Faculty of Education, JMI.

The FDP got an impressive response from across the country and received a whopping 92 registrations. Only 50 participants were provisioned at the time of the inception of the program, however due to its huge demand, the Ministry allowed 42 more participants to join the FDP. In all, 55 faculty members and 37 research scholars were enrolled in the program. Notably, 100% participants completed the course.
The program had 40 online technical sessions of one-hour each, followed by a test that was conducted online. The Resource persons came from reputed institutions, including, EFLU, Hyderabad, IIITDM Kurnool, NIT Warangal, NIEPA, New Delhi, JNU, Delhi, CSIR Patna, Central University of Karnataka, AUD, IGNOU, GGSIPU, JMI and also from the Industry. The sessions covered the broad theoretical framework and hands-on experiences of using the AI along with the application of AI and ICT tools in Education. Certificates will be provided online to all the participants. The program concluded with a valedictory function which was graced by several dignitaries from partnering institutions and the Ministry. In the end, the coordinators Dr Aerum Khan and Dr Noel thanked the dignitaries and the participants.
