Delegation from Daegu Haany University, Republic of Korea, Visits Jamia Hamdard to Explore Academic and Research Collaboration

Nai Dilli : Jamia Hamdard welcomed a high-level delegation from Daegu Haany University, Republic of Korea, on July 23, 2025, to explore avenues for academic and research collaboration. The visiting delegation included Dr. Se-Zin Hwang, Dean of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation; Dr. Jichung Song, Dean of International Affairs; and Ms. Jinhyeon Park, Member of the Glocal University Project.
The delegation was received by Dr. Sarfaraz Ahsan, Officiating Registrar, who led the Jamia Hamdard team during the interaction. The other Professors and Officers of Jamia Hamdard who attended the interaction session included Prof. S. Raisuddin, Dean (Academics); Prof. Uma Bhandari, Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Education and Research; Prof. Suhel Parvez, Dean, School of Chemical & Life Sciences; Prof. Yasmeen Shamsi, Dean, School of Unani Medical Education & Research; Prof. Sayeed Ahmad, Director, Centre of Excellence (Unani Medicine); Prof. Syeedun Nisa, Director, Hamdard Institute of International Studies; and Dr. Akhtar Parvez, University Librarian.
During the meeting, both institutions shared profiles of their respective universities and it was observed that there are several research programmes with a common orientation. Dr. Jichung Song emphasized Daegu Haany University’s focus on oriental medicine and its active research programme in cosmetology. In response, Dr. Sarfaraz Ahsan welcomed the proposal for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two universities to facilitate joint research initiatives and faculty and student exchanges.
The delegation visited the AYUSH-supported Centre of Excellence in Unani Medicine (Pharmacognosy and Pharmacology), the School of Unani Medical Education & Research, and the Majeedia Unani Hospital. They expressed deep appreciation for the advanced laboratory infrastructure and ongoing clinical research, acknowledging the quality and depth of work being conducted at Jamia Hamdard.
This visit marks a significant step towards fostering international collaboration in the fields of traditional medicine, pharmacology, and related disciplines.
