Release of Annual Hall Magazine “Bab-e-Ilm” Marks 40 Years of AMU’s Sir Syed Hall (North)

Nai Dilli : Sir Syed Hall (North), Aligarh Muslim University, commemorated four decades of academic and cultural excellence with the release of its Annual Hall Magazine “Bab-e-Ilm”, celebrating the journey from 1984 to 2024.
Addressing the formal release ceremony as Chief Guest, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mohsin Khan, congratulated the editorial team and praised the initiative as a significant contribution to AMU’s literary and academic traditions. He emphasized the importance of such publications in fostering creative expression and preserving institutional memory.
A special guest on the occasion, Prof. Nishat Fatima, University Librarian, lauded the editorial foresight behind the magazine.
Another guest, Prof. Vibha Sharma (Member Incharge, Public Relations and Deputy DSW), extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Provost and the editorial team, emphasizing the archival and inspirational value of such works. She commended Mr. Naved Alam for his leadership and vision in bringing the edition to fruition.
Provost of the Hall, Prof. Adam Malik Khan, congratulated the Editorial Board and residents of Sir Syed Hall (North) for producing a publication that mirrors the hall’s academic vibrancy and cultural richness.

Mr. Naved Alam, Editor-in-Chief, reflected on the editorial journey and acknowledged the dedicated efforts of the Editorial Board and Hall administration. He noted that “Bab-e-Ilm” is the first publication of its kind to document the comprehensive history of Sir Syed Hall (North), while also serving as a platform to reconnect with its distinguished alumni.
Opening with a tribute to Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the visionary founder of AMU, the magazine lives up to its title “Bab-e-Ilm”—a gateway to knowledge. The publication features a wide range of content, including creative writings, retrospectives on hall events, articles aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), alumni reflections, and messages from university dignitaries.
Dr. Arafat Zafar (Censor) remarked that “Bab-e-Ilm” stands as a testament to the intellectual spirit, heritage, and community that define Sir Syed Hall (North), serving both as a tribute to its illustrious past and a beacon for future generations of AMU scholars.
Dr. Riaz Ahmed (Residential Warden) and Editorial Board members Faizur Rehman Sherwan and Abu Daud were also present on the occasion.
