PG Orientation Programme Held at Department of Pathology, JN Medical College

Nai Dilli : The Department of Pathology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organized a Postgraduate Orientation Programme to welcome and guide the 15 newly admitted MD Pathology residents. The event was held in the department’s seminar room.
Dr. Mohd. Rafey formally welcomed the participants, while residents introduced themselves, and thesis supervisors were assigned during the session.

Prof. Veena Maheshwari, former Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, shared insights into the department’s history and spoke about the contributions of former senior faculty members. Prof. Kiran Alam and Prof. S.H. Arif advised the residents on maintaining laboratory discipline and professionalism.
Chairman of the Department, Prof. Mahboob Hasan, introduced the faculty and non-teaching staff and provided an overview of the department’s seven key laboratories. The teacher in-charges elaborated on the duties and responsibilities of residents in each lab. Prof. Nishat Afroz described the processes involved in histopathological tissue processing. Prof. Roobina Khan and Dr. Shagufta Qadri explained the work carried out in the cytopathology laboratory. Prof. Mohd. Jaseem Hassan discussed the necessary precautions to be taken in the blood and component bank. Dr. Hena Ansari highlighted the available facilities and tasks in the chemical pathology lab, while Dr. Mohd. Feroz Alam detailed the work in the central laboratory. Dr. Suhailur Rehman and Dr. Ruquiya Afrose described the various tests and duties involved in the hematology lab.
The academic session also included a presentation by Prof. Kafil Akhtar on how to write an MD thesis protocol. This was followed by a talk by Dr. Bushra Siddiqui on how to prepare effective PowerPoint presentations. Dr. Siddiqui coordinated the programme, and Dr. Murad Ahmed delivered the vote of thanks.
