Nai Dilli : Reinforcing its commitment to community dental outreach, the Department of Periodontia and Community Dentistry, Dr. Ziauddin Ahmad Dental College, Aligarh Muslim University, organised a dental health camp titled “Bright Smiles Bright Future” at Ayesha Tarin Modern Public School, Aligarh. The initiative, in collaboration with the Inclusive Futures Foundation (IFF), launched a week-long Tobacco Awareness Program aligned with World No Tobacco Day under the theme: “Unmasking the Appeal: Exposing Industry Tactics on Tobacco and Nicotine Products.”
Under the leadership of Prof. Neha Agrawal, Chairperson of the Department, and guidance of Principal Prof. R.K. Tiwari, the college’s outreach team delivered sessions on oral hygiene and the harmful effects of tobacco. Faculty members Dr. Pramod Kumar Yadav and Dr. Syed Amaan Ali, Junior Residents Dr. Hridya and Dr. Shazia Nahid, and final-year BDS students Dr. Avinash Tripathi and Ms. Nainsi Varshney actively conducted dental awareness talks and an engaging quiz competition for students.
Prof. Agrawal, in her address, emphasized the importance of preventive dental care from a young age and highlighted the dental college’s mission to extend oral health education beyond clinical settings. “Such outreach programmes are vital to instill healthy habits early and counter the growing influence of tobacco among youth,” she said.

The camp was organised in collaboration with IFF, coordinated by its Founder-President Dr. Juhi Gupta, with support from Dr. Sarah Kidwai, Ms. Ishrat Batool, Ms. Sana, Mr. Aijaz Ahmed, and Mr. Qyyum Ali. The school community, led by Principal Ms. Sangeeta Agrawal, Executive Officer Ms. Summaiya Naheed, and Programme Coordinator Ms. Farah Khan, facilitated the event’s execution.
Running until June 5, the awareness campaign will include skits, health talks, poster contests, and more, aimed at equipping students with knowledge to resist misleading tobacco marketing. The outreach reflects Dr. Z.A. Dental College’s continued dedication to building a healthier, tobacco-free future through proactive community engagement.
