Dept. of Economics Organizes Field Trip to Rural Health Training Centre, Jawan

Nai Dilli : The Department of Economics, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), organised a field trip for BA VI Semester students pursuing the Vocational Course (VOC) under FYUP to the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC), Jawan, Department of Community Medicine, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), recently. This initiative aimed to provide experiential learning by bridging academic knowledge with real-world challenges in rural healthcare delivery.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasises hands-on learning, the visit enabled students to engage with doctors, patients, and medical interns; observe the healthcare infrastructure; and understand the role of RHTC in strengthening primary healthcare in rural India. Students gained valuable insights into the operations of the RHTC and its contribution to inclusive national development through medical outreach and training.

The field trip was attended by Prof. Nisar Ahmad Khan, Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi (Chairman), Prof. S.M. Jawed Akhtar, Prof. Mohammad Asif, Prof. Mohd Azam Khan, and Dr. Shirin Rais (Course Teacher), who actively guided and encouraged students throughout the visit. Faculty members also interacted with patients, disseminating information about various government health schemes and welfare programs.
Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi emphasised the importance of field-based learning in fostering critical thinking and practical understanding of economic and social issues. He expressed gratitude to Dr. Sameena Ahmad (Assistant Professor) and Dr. Karthika P. (Senior Resident) for their support and guidance during the visit. Prof. Rizvi also acknowledged the contributions of Prof. Mohammad Athar Ansari and Prof. Uzma Eram (Chairperson), Department of Community Medicine, for facilitating the trip.

The visit was organized under the leadership of Prof. Shehroz Alam Rizvi and coordinated by Dr. Shirin Rais, who also served as the rapporteur of the programme.
