Corporate Life Is A Team Game: Industry Experts Deliver Insightful Talks at AMU’s Student-Industry Interaction “Spectrum-2025”

Nai Dilli : “Corporate life is a team game and capability to adapt, professional attitude, capacity to analyse and collaboration are the prerequisites to succeed in the corporate word”, said the renowned HR and business consultant Dr. S.Y. Siddiqui, former Executive Advisor and Head of reality business- Maruti Suzuki at the “Spectrum-2025”, the industry-academia dialogue, organised by the Training and Placement Office (TPO-General) of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).
Addressing the inaugural session at the JNMC auditorium as the Chief Guest, Dr. Siddiqui shared his campus hiring experiences and advised the students to inculcate values of team work, and focus on interpersonal relationships, by not being egoistic and selfish. “Corporate life isn’t an individual game and all the team members have to perform to get the desired result”, he emphasized.
Dr. Siddiqui, Chairman of AIMA HR Committee also discussed the digital shift being witnessed in the industry, which is impacting a lot of careers in a big way. “Next 40 years will see the impact, whether it’s generative AI, machine learning, automation or robotics”, he said, asserting that AI will replace mechanical HR, but the value of human beings as strategists, planners, and crisis managers will always remain. This digital technology will not replace people, rather, it will add value to businesses and HR practices.
The chief guest also shared his industry experiences and provided valuable insights to the students for their careers.
The Guest of Honour, Mr. Altaf Hussain, Head- Human Resources, ITC Limited, Haridwar, exhorted the students to strive for excellence in their respective fields. “Interviewers try to see the kind of efforts made by job seekers in their courses, and how they can contribute to the organization. Students need knowledge of the subject as well as soft skills to communicate properly. What they have learned beyond their curriculum and honest answers are always appreciated”.
Mr. Hussain urged the students to work hard and adopt an honest approach. He also appreciated the efforts of the TPO team in organizing such events regularly to make students corporate and industry-ready, who gain practical knowledge from the industry experts.
Extending a warm welcome to the industry experts, Professor Vibha Sharma, Member Incharge, Public Relations Office, AMU emphasized the importance of industry and academia linkage.
She said “this linkage keeps a university’s outer ring road alive. A university system is a system of concentric circles, and in the innermost core to this circle lies the idea of progress and welfare of humanity, but the outer ring road or the outermost concentric circles is the industry”.
She said Industry is the place where everything is tested and tried, once graduates go out of the university. If there is no linkage between the university and industry there is no point in producing graduates from courses of all kinds.
Prof Sharma emphasized that every course has a potential of transforming itself into a professional course based on the caliber of the student, and the innovation in which an industry can absorb the talented young people.
“So there is no binding of only some so-called professional courses to be called professional. All of us are professional and all people who have studied basic sciences, humanities, pursued traditional degrees are also potentially professionals for the future, given the two conditions are fulfilled- one is that you have decided to pursue a profession and have started behaving professionally, have started acquiring professional skills, have started training yourself through internships and number two is: the industries are ready through innovative thinking and vision to absorb the talent of the society without letting it go wasted because they do not have the tag of so called professional degree”, Prof Sharma said.
She urged the young students to make the best of this opportunity by emphasizing that “the package will follow once your passion is the guiding force in your mind, body and principles”.
Prof. Vibha Sharma also praised the TPO for their efforts in the students’ welfare and offering opportunities for their career advancement.
