Arunachal University of Studies Commemorates 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas with Assam Rifles and Namsai District Administration

Nai Dilli : Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), in a solemn collaboration with the Assam Rifles and the Namsai District Administration, today commemorated the 26th Kargil Vijay Diwas in Namsai. The event honored the extraordinary valor and sacrifice of India’s armed forces during the Kargil conflict.

The ceremony was graced by Lt Gen K. T. Parnaik, PVSM, UYSM, YSM (Retd), who attended as the Chief Guest. Special Guests included distinguished Kargil War Veterans, Naik Digendra Singh, MVC, SM, and Naik Prahlad Singh, whose presence brought a profound sense of pride and reverence to the proceedings.

Prominent dignitaries in attendance included Dr. Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister, Arunachal Pradesh; Chou Zingnu Namchoom, MLA, Namsai; Shri P. N. Khirmey, IPS, Inspector General of Police; Dr. Ashwani Lochan, Chairman, AUS; Shri Vishva Lochan, Pro-Chancellor & Managing Director, AUS; Prof. Ajeya Jha, Vice-Chancellor, AUS; Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander, HQ 25 Sector Assam Rifles; Brigadier Kaustubh Kekre, SM, Commander, 181 Mountain Brigade; Shri C. R. Khampa, APCS, Deputy Commissioner, Namsai; Colonel Vivek Tripathi, SM, Commandant, 11 Assam Rifles; Colonel Rajat Bhatia, Commanding Officer, 4 Madras; and Shri Sanjay Khaitan, Principal, Tinsukia Law College.

Addressing the gathering, the Hon’ble Governor paid heartfelt tribute to the martyrs, highlighting the heroic actions of Indian soldiers who reclaimed the nation’s territory under extremely challenging conditions at high altitudes. He lauded their indomitable spirit and extraordinary bravery. Dr. Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, also praised the efforts of the martyrs and soldiers in the Kargil War.

Dr. Ashwani Lochan, Chairman of AUS, emphasized that this commemorative event served as a humble tribute to the selfless service and courage of India’s armed forces. Kargil War veterans shared poignant reflections and firsthand accounts of their combat experiences, offering students and guests valuable insights into the realities of war.

In addition to the commemorative celebrations, the Hon’ble Governor inaugurated the third phase of the Krishna Kumari Tribal Girls Hostel and distributed laptops to AUS students. He commended the university’s ongoing efforts to reduce the digital divide and promote skill development, noting that AUS continues to foster innovative and inclusive education for holistic student growth. He also interacted with the students and staff, commending AUS for its outstanding strides in educational advancement and infrastructure development. He praised the university’s academic and residential infrastructure facilities, stating that AUS has emerged as one of the leading self-financed institutions in the state and continues to play a pivotal role in transforming the educational landscape of Arunachal Pradesh.
