AMU Schools Observe 100-Day Countdown to International Yoga Day 2025

Nai Dilli : As part of the nationwide 100-day countdown to International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, the AMU Girls School and the Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged organized special events promoting the importance of yoga for physical, mental, and emotional well-being.
At the AMU Girls School, a yoga session was held under the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and staff. The event, guided by Physical Education Teachers Mohammad Wasim Ahmed and Md Imran Khan, featured Yogasana, Pranayama, and meditation practices. Principal Mrs. Amna Malik encouraged students to adopt yoga as part of their daily routine, highlighting its role in creating a healthy and harmonious world. Teachers Zeeshan Haider, Samona Pal, Naba Kirmani, Shirin, and Kahkasha also actively participated in the event.
Meanwhile, the Ahmadi School for the Visually Challenged marked the countdown with a week-long celebration featuring a three-day yoga workshop, essay and quiz competitions, and a yoga asana contest. The program was inaugurated by Prof. Farzana K. Beig, former Chairperson, Department of Paediatrics, who emphasized yoga’s transformative impact on mental peace and physical fitness.

The closing ceremony was graced by Prof. Mohd Azam Khan, Deputy Director, Directorate of School Education, AMU, as Chief Guest. Principal Dr. Naila Rashid felicitated the Chief Guest and played a vital role in the success of the event through her vision and leadership.
Participants, including students and non-teaching staff, received certificates, prizes, and food packets during the event. Special efforts by sports teachers Ms. Sana Raza and Mr. Syed Shahrukh Husain contributed to the program’s grand success.
These initiatives were organized under the broader framework of Yoga Mahotsav 2025, launched by the Union Ministry of AYUSH, aligning with the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, who initiated the global observance of International Day of Yoga in 2014.
