AMU Halls Celebrate International Yoga Day with Enthusiasm and Unity

Nai Dilli : As part of the global observance of the International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025, Aligarh Muslim University’s Sarojini Naidu Hall, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Hall, S.S. Hall North, Bibi Fatima Hall and Nadeem Tarin Hall organised inspiring yoga programmes to promote wellness, discipline, and harmony among residents and staff.
At Sarojini Naidu Hall, a vibrant “Yog Sangam” event was held under the global theme “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” with enthusiastic participation from the Acting Provost, Dr. Sufia Naseem, Ms. Varsha, Resident Warden along with other wardens, staff, and resident students. Students from the Department of Physical Education demonstrated a series of yoga asanas.
Meanwhile, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Hall also marked the occasion with a large-scale yoga session led by Provost Professor Muhammad Tariq. The event included the live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address, which was attentively followed by wardens, staff, and participants.
Dr. Gaurav led a guided session in yoga asanas and pranayama. The participants actively engaged in the practice and described the experience as both memorable and rejuvenating.

In his concluding remarks, Professor Tariq underlined the significance of yoga for personal transformation. He said, “Health is the greatest wealth. Without good health, one cannot lead a fulfilling life. Yoga must be integrated into our daily routines to enhance both health and life quality.”
At S.S. Hall (North), the day was observed with equal spirit. The live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address was arranged for students, wardens, and staff, who listened to him with keen interest. This was followed by the performance of various yoga asanas. Provost Professor Adam Malik Khan highlighted the significance of the day and emphasised the transformative power of yoga in leading a disciplined and balanced life.
The International Yoga Day was also celebrated with great fervour in the premises of Bibi Fatima Hall. Students, wardens, and staff members came together to mark the day with great enthusiasm. The programme included the live-streaming of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address, followed by the performance of the Common Yoga Protocol under the guidance of two student trainers, Ms. Saara Sazid Khan and Ms. Pooja Rani. Warden Ms. Sadaf Ahmad addressed the participants and emphasized the relevance of yoga in contemporary life. Provost Prof. Sharmin Khan appreciated the active involvement of students and staff, highlighting the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for a healthier lifestyle.
At Nadeem Tarin Hall, residents, wardens, and staff joined together to mark the occasion. The live address of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was streamed for all attendees. This was followed by yoga demonstrations led by student volunteers. Provost Dr. Rashid Ali addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of the day and urging students to adopt yoga as a lifelong discipline for mental clarity and physical wellness.
