New Delhi (Nai Dilli News Bureau), 9 Jan 2025: Bollywood actor-director and BJP MP Ms Kangana Ranaut has stirred curiosity once again by sharing a candid interaction with Congress leader Mrs Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Ranaut, whose upcoming film Emergency delves into the 21-month-long Emergency declared by then-Prime Minister Smt Indira Gandhi in 1975, revealed that she personally invited Vadra to watch her film.
While addressing the media, Ranaut disclosed that her conversation with the Wayanad MP happened during an encounter in Parliament, where Vadra praised her work and even complimented her hairstyle.
“I met Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament, and she complimented me on my work and my hair,” Ranaut recounted. “So, I was like, you know, I made this film Emergency, and maybe you should see it. And she was like, ‘Okay, maybe.’”
The interaction hints at the possibility of a Congress leader watching a film centered on one of the most controversial periods of Indian political history, spearheaded by her grandmother. Ranaut added, “If they have a little bit of acceptance for what has been, they would appreciate the film.”

The ensemble cast includes Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as a young Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Milind Soman as Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Mahima Choudhary as Pupul Jayakar, and the late Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram.
