New Delhi, October 7: The Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS) has strongly condemned the shocking act of aggression directed at Honourable Chief Justice of India His Loardship Shri B.R. Gavai within the Supreme Court premises earlier today.

In an official statement, the CNMS described the incident as “a direct assault on the rule of law and the very foundations of Indian democracy.” The organisation expressed “unequivocal condemnation” of the attack and extended full solidarity with the Chief Justice of India.

Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Chairman of the Centre for NaMo Studies, lauded the Chief Justice for his “exemplary composure and profound commitment to duty” in the face of the incident. He noted that “Justice Gavai remained unfazed and continued the proceedings immediately, setting a powerful example of the judiciary’s resilience and integrity.”

The statement further affirmed that “the steadfastness of the Chief Justice under duress reassures the nation that the dignity and independence of the Supreme Court remain sacrosanct.”

The CNMS praised Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi for his strong condemnation of the attack on Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and for expressing solidarity with the judiciary at such a critical moment. The Centre appreciated the Prime Minister’s reaffirmation of the values of justice and the spirit of the Constitution, noting that such leadership strengthens public trust in the independence and dignity of India’s judicial system.

On X, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi stated, “Spoke to Chief Justice of India, Justice BR Gavai Ji. The attack on him earlier today in the Supreme Court premises has angered every Indian. There is no place for such reprehensible acts in our society. It is utterly condemnable,”.

I appreciated the calm displayed by Justice Gavai in the face of such a situation. It highlights his commitment to values of justice and strengthening the spirit of our Constitution.

The CNMS also appreciated the prompt action taken by the Bar Council of India (BCI) in suspending the license of Adv Rakesh Kishore, who attempted to attack Chief Justice B.R. Gavai today within the Supreme Court premises. The Council’s decision to immediately initiate disciplinary proceedings against the advocate reflects its strong commitment to maintaining the dignity, discipline, and sanctity of the legal profession. The Centre lauded the BCI’s decisive response, stating that such swift action sends a clear message that any attempt to undermine the honour of the judiciary or disrupt the temple of justice will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
