CNMS Honours Hanfia Islamia Institute as Best School in New Delhi in Presence of Former Assam Governor

New Delhi, 2 April : Jammu & Kashmir’s Hanfia Islamia Institute, Turka-Tachloo, Anantnag, has been recognised at the prestigious Indian Schools Convention 2026, organised by the Centre for NaMo Studies (CNMS) in collaboration with the Media Centre in New Delhi on Thursday.

The institute was honoured under the Best Middle Schools category (Rural) as part of the Best School Awards 2026, which celebrate excellence in school education across India.

Hanfia Islamia Institute is one of the oldest institutes in Jammu & Kashmir. Established in 1982, it is located in Turka-Tachloo village of Anantnag district. For over four decades, the institute has served as a centre of quality education, contributing significantly to the academic and moral development of students in the region.

The convention was graced by Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, former Governor of Assam, as the Chief Guest, who applauded the efforts of schools contributing towards quality and inclusive education in line with NEP 2020.

The event witnessed the esteemed presence of Justice Iqbal Ahmed Ansari, former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, and Dr. Khwaja Iftikhar Ahmed, President, Interfaith Harmony Foundation of India, as Principal Guests.

The Guests of Honour included Swami Devendra Brahmachari, Founder of Mahavirayatan Foundation; Maya Kulshreshtha, Member, Rajbhasha Samiti, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The session was chaired by Feroz Bakht Ahmed, former Chancellor of MANUU, Hyderabad, as Chairman of the Jury. The programme began with introductory remarks by Prof. Jasim Mohammad, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Divya Tanwar. The session was moderated by Dr. Ayushi Ketkar, Assistant Professor, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).

Prof. Jasim Mohammad, Chairman, Centre for NaMo Studies, said, “The Indian Schools Convention 2026 has been organised with the clear purpose of recognising and encouraging schools that are contributing to quality, inclusive, and value-based education across the country. The initiative is aimed at promoting the vision of the National Education Policy 2020 by highlighting the importance of holistic development, critical thinking, and skill-based learning. This convention, we seek to motivate schools to continuously improve their standards and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of education in India.”

Prof. Divya Tanwar, Coordinator, Indian Schools Convention 2026, said, “It was not easy to select the Best School Awards, as the process required careful evaluation and detailed discussions. A significant amount of time was spent reviewing the performance of each school, along with various other important parameters. Every effort was made to ensure that the selection was fair, transparent, and based on merit.”

Waseem Hassan Raja, Chairman, Hanfia Islamia Institute, said, “This is a great achievement for our institute, as being recognised at a national platform in New Delhi is not a small feat. It shows the consistent efforts of our teachers, students, and management. We will continue to work with the same dedication to provide quality education, and help our students grow into responsible and capable individuals who can contribute positively to society.”

He also thanked the Centre for NaMo Studies for organising such a great convention and for providing institutions like theirs an opportunity to be recognised at the national level.
